Robert C. McCurdy

Mr. McCurdy joined the Board of Directors in 2008.  He became Treasurer of the Board in 2009.

Mr. McCurdy retired as System Vice President for Legal Services and Risk Management for Lee Memorial Health System in Fort Myers, Florida, in 2005.  He continues to serve in a part-time capacity as Special System Legal Counsel. Mr. McCurdy served as senior in-house counsel to Lee Memorial from 1975 to his retirement. 

He joined Lee Memorial following completion of the Health Law Master’s Degree program at the University of Pittsburgh Graduate School of Public Health.  Mr. McCurdy practiced pharmacy in community and hospital settings following receiving his bachelor’s degree in pharmacy from the University of Florida in 1962.

Mr. McCurdy was admitted to membership in the American College of Health Care Executives in 1982 and became a Life Fellow in 2005.  He is a member of the American Health Lawyers Association and a past president of the Florida Academy of Healthcare Attorneys.  Mr. McCurdy is past chairman of the Executive Council of the Health Law Section of the Florida Bar and served as Editor of the Health Law Section Newsletter.  He has served as president of the Florida Society for Healthcare Risk Management, and he is a diplomate of the Florida Society for Healthcare Risk Management.

In his capacity as health system house counsel, Mr. McCurdy has dealt with a wide range of issues in the health care setting, including medical malpractice, reimbursement, licensure, risk management, and the law of public agencies.
