Jo Stecher, PhD, RN, CCTC

Dr. Stecher joined the Board of Directors in 2010.  She has been a nurse for over 30 years. 

Dr. Stecher specialized in the transplant field, becoming a certified clinical transplant coordinator in 1997.  She was the Lung Transplant Coordinator at New York University Medical Center as well as covering liver and kidney.  

Dr. Stecher began teaching at Florida Gulf Coast University in 2003 after moving to Fort Myers.  As an Assistant Professor, she teaches in the undergraduate program, focusing on gerontology, end of life issues, advanced medical/surgical topics, and coordinating the senior placement practicum course.

Dr. Stecher is actively involved in research, currently focusing on the spousal caregivers of early-onset Alzheimer’s patients.  She is a member of the faculty senate at the university and is a member of the financial committee of the Alvin A. Dubin Alzheimer’s Resource Center.
